A pig-like animal was discovered frozen in the depths of a crevasse in Antarctica. Scientists have managed to thaw the strange creature from it's icy shell, and are now keeping it preserved in a laboratory while they work on a way to revive it.
While there has been no official agreement over what the creature is to be called, John Thomas has put forward what seems to be an appropriate suggestion.
"We've already had a few cockfights over the name, but personally I think it should be called a Peniosaur. We have evidence to suggest it was living during the Triassic period, and may have gone extinct during the transition between the Triassic and Jurassic period. I think the name suits it, being that it was alive when dinosaurs were." says John.
It has been described as having short knobbly legs, and pink meaty skin. It seems to have only one eye, right smack on the middle of it's head. It has a short curly tail too, just like a pig. Scientists can't get any more details at the moment as it's body is obviously still quite stiff from 1000s of years of being frozen.
"It's sort of like the third leg of the species. I mean, you've got pigs, boars, and now, hopefully, the peniosaur." John says.
Take a look for yourself at this new discovery. Here it is, freshly thawed before being put into preservation:
